Toast to the bride and groom:
This is normally proposed by the bride's father or a close relative of friend of the family.
Toast to the bridesmaids:
This is always proposed by the bridegroom, following his response to the first toast.
The best man would then respond to the bridegroom's speech on behalf of the other bridesmaids. He would also read the telegrams to the guests.
Cutting the cake:
The cutting of the cake is announced by the toastmaster or best man. After the first slice has been cut by the bride and groom the bottom tire is then cut into slices for the guests.
